Technology Route and Neighbour Chat bring technology and businesses together
Podt Alplain
Getting acquainted, discovering and connecting: that was the focus of both the Technology Route on 12 November and the very first Neighbour Chat on 19 November at the Nijverwaard industrial estate. Primary school pupils and fellow companies were given a unique glimpse behind the scenes at Podt Alplain, Plastirol and Redisol, as well as at neighbouring Bakker Repair.
Technology Route: Getting young people excited about technology
During the Technology Route, we welcomed enthusiastic primary school pupils who wanted to discover what technical work involves. Our colleagues at Plastirol took the pupils through the production process of plastic films. And at Podt Alplain, the pupils were introduced to our machines, precision technology and innovations.
Making a photo frame
As an extra surprise, they were allowed to get to work themselves at Podt Alplain: each pupil made a personalised photo frame. This gave them a tangible reminder of their introduction to technology and technical professions. We get young people excited by showing them the extensive possibilities and bringing them into contact with the practical side of things.
First Neighbour Chat: companies get to know each other better
A week later, the first Neighbour Chat took place, a new initiative to connect fellow companies and exchange knowledge. Led by Louise Beenhakker, Piet van Gelderen and Jos Houweling, among others, visitors were taken through the production processes, machines and innovations of Podt Alplain, Plastirol and Redisol.
Craftsmanship and technical depth
This was followed by a culinary break provided by our neighbour Streetsjef. The programme ended with an extensive tour of Bakker Repair, where we were given an impressive glimpse into the world of engine reconditioning. It was an informative and inspiring conclusion to a successful day full of craftsmanship and technology.
Both the Technology Route and the Neighbourhood Chat were a great success.
It is wonderful to see how much knowledge, craftsmanship and commitment we share at our business park. This first edition has undoubtedly whetted our appetite for more!
