Sustainability Day: giving plastic offcuts a new lease of life
Redisol
Sustainability Day: giving plastic offcuts a new lease of life 10 October is Sustainability Day. For Redisol, this is a topic that comes up every day. As the sustainable link within PAG, Redisol focuses on the reuse of plastic offcuts. The aim is not to let any electricity or offcuts go to waste, but to return material to the supply chain wherever possible.
This means that sustainability does not begin with a new product, but rather with the question of what else can be done with the material that remains.
First, analysing what remains
Not every plastic waste stream is the same. That is why the process at Redisol begins with an analysis. What materials are contained in the waste? For which applications are they suitable? And how can the material be reprocessed? Based on this analysis, the waste streams are assessed and a suitable new application is sought.
Striving for upcycling
Redisol strives for upcycling. This means that reused material is put to use again at the highest possible quality. The aim is to keep plastics in the supply chain for longer, thereby reducing the need for new material. In this way, Redisol contributes to the recycling and upcycling of plastics and to reducing CO₂ emissions. Redisol reuses materials including ABS, PE, PET, PP and PS, amongst others.
From waste to new raw material
The core of the approach is practical: turning plastic waste back into a usable raw material. Knowledge of materials and an understanding of potential applications are key to this. Redisol therefore keeps abreast of developments concerning new materials, applications and techniques. In addition, it invests in the expertise of its own team.
Sustainability Day: take a look at your own waste streams
Sustainability Day is a good opportunity to examine the plastic waste streams within your own company. What waste is generated during production? What happens to it at present? And can these materials be given new value?
Do you have plastic waste and are you curious about the possibilities for reuse? Challenge Redisol and work together to find a new application for your material.
